Graphic novel about 9/11 launched

I haven't looked closely at this but here we see that a new novel concerning 9/11 has been launched in the form of a graphic novel...comic book type hybrid....ummm...interesting!

Last Night

Last night I read Steve Kilbey's blog (http://stevekilbey.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_stevekilbey_archive.html), traversing through his long, confounding poem/diary entries and getting nowhere, til I found one posted in May about the death of Grant McLennan. Oh boy, did it kill me. I haven't cried like that in a long time, the tears really hurt, and you could tell that Kilbey was upset to, confessing that the last time he spoke to Grant he blew him off because he was too busy. I fixed myself a drink, rum and coke, and drank at the computer for the first time and then I wrote a small paragraph about losing it. I've never felt like strumming a guitar more in my life. In Grant's words, and Kilbey's title of the blog entry, 'a teenage rasputin takes a sting from a gin'.
This morning I had a thought, if I spent the rest of my life in the library, maybe they would give me a job there, something nice to do, like read the books or sweep the floors. Isn't that what they did with Borges? They couldn't get him out of the library so they just employed him as a 'cataloguer'? I was pleased with the thought, and was ready to head to the library, but then I realised that bars don’t give jobs to the bums who frequent bars their whole lives, so why should the library give me, a library-fly, a job and I guess that’s the thought that I had this morning.

this morning

This morning I slept again till 11am, time zones got me all mixed up. Wake to the knocking of the maid at the door...head a bit fuzzy, voice croaky from last night and lingering illness. Get dressed and walk out, wander through warm streets, to find double shot latte and a muffin for breakfast, ramping up for this event.

last night

Last night i ate a rushed dinner with old and new friends. Ran to the California Theatre, lit up like Christmas, into art deco splendour. Japanese sound and video artist performance...bleeps...clangs...nasa pictures...nails though my seat. Vagued out in parts and thought again about andy.

Drinks afterwards, so many accents, my voice like sandpaper. Sick, happy, sad at times, sharing heartbreak stories with beautiful women, michelle, amanda, samaya, in glamour bar, laughing too. Wondering can you ever really teach a new lover how to be good in bed? A bit tipsy, back to plush hotel room, king sized bed and thoughts again..again...

2 writing exercises for us

Hi everyone, yes, i'm posting from San Jose like i said i would. I want us to do an online collaborative writing exercise together- well two actually. Remember last week in class i got you all to write a few paragraphs following the words "this morning...".

Well, building on this, I'm going to create a "last night" post, and a "this morning" post. You need to submit to both. You can either just add your submission by commenting on mine, or create you own post title "last night" or "this morning". You can use your "this morning" paras from last week, or write a new one...but don't get hung up about it too much. Obviously write a fresh "last night" one. But i think its best practice if we are all truthful, though.

Ok, so now I'm going to create those posts.
